Use this holiday lighting installation shirt proof review checklist on one exact, dated proof. Review it in separate passes for version, business copy, logo integrity, sides, hierarchy, product, roster, sizes, and quantities. A correction reopens every affected pass; approval applies only to the named version.
Freeze the review inputs
Gather the approved design brief, authoritative business information, logo source package, selected product and template reference, roster worksheet, and proof file. Name one approval owner and one factual reviewer.
Record filename, version, received date, product, color, requested decoration areas, and seller reference. Do not begin from a phone preview when a complete file is available. Save reviewer comments against the same version.
Pass 1: identify the version
Confirm the proof header and filename match the version under review. Check that front, back, and any optional area belong to the same revision. If separate images arrived, list them together in the review record.
Reject ambiguous labels such as “latest” or “final2.” A version number and date make later approval traceable.
Pass 2: read every character
Read text aloud and compare character by character with authoritative sources. Check:
- Company name and capitalization
- Service descriptor
- Phone number
- Website or approved contact route
- Role labels
- Punctuation and spacing
- Any time-limited campaign copy
Do not correct from memory. Test a website or phone record through the company's authorized verification process. Remove placeholder copy and services the business has not approved.
Isolate copy that can expire
Mark every line tied to a season, campaign, account, location, or temporary offer. Compare its effective dates and authorized audience with the proof record. If that information is not meant to remain on the evergreen uniform, move it to a controlled version or remove it.
Check that an account-specific phrase has not entered the company master by mistake. Record who owns the wording and when it must be reviewed or retired. This prevents a technically accurate proof from creating an outdated reorder later.
Pass 3: compare the logo
Place the proof beside the approved logo preview from the logo preparation package. Check proportions, icon-to-wordmark relationship, spelling, approved color version, and prohibited effects.
Look for stretching, redrawing, substituted type, added outline, changed spacing, or an unapproved seasonal edit. If the provider requires an adaptation, document and approve it as a controlled version rather than silently changing the master logo.
Pass 4: check sides and content jobs
Confirm that every element is on the requested side. The front and back should follow the assignments recorded in the information hierarchy guide.
Check reading order at a consistent proof scale. Company identity, service wording, contact route, role label, and graphic should not all compete as primary. This is a design review, not a promised viewing-distance result.
Pass 5: inspect alignment and relationships
Review centering, relative spacing, line breaks, margins shown by the provider, and the relationship between artwork and garment features. Compare against the current exact template rather than a generic mockup.
Ask the provider about anything the proof does not define. Do not infer dimensions, decoration limits, or output from the illustration alone.
Pass 6: reconcile product facts
Compare the proof and order record with the current listing. Confirm exact product, variant, color, size range, selected artwork areas, and current commercial information. Product facts can change, so record the check date.
Do not infer material performance from a name or image. Unresolved construction, care, size, or artwork questions return to the fabric and product fact checklist.
Pass 7: reconcile roster and versions
Match each artwork version to its authorized wearer group. Confirm role labels are accurate, seasonal or subcontract versions are authorized, and personal names—if approved—are spelled from the current record.
Use the small-business ordering worksheet to compare sizes and quantities. The art proof may not display every order line, so keep artwork approval and roster reconciliation as separate signed checks.
Pass 8: review a plain presentation
If the proof uses a dramatic background or lighting effect, request or create an authorized plain review view. Inspect front and back at matching scale. Effects should not hide low separation, cropped art, or an unintended line break.
Reviewers should describe observable issues: “service line competes with company name,” not “it feels off.” Tie each comment to the brief.
Control corrections
Submit one consolidated correction list with page or side, element, current state, required change, and source. Avoid parallel email threads.
When a revision arrives, do not review only the corrected item. First confirm the new version, then rerun the changed pass and any dependent passes. A copy change can alter alignment; a product change can alter the template; a role change can alter quantities.
Keep rejected versions outside the active approval folder.
Document approval precisely
The final record should state proof filename/version, product and color, included sides, artwork versions, approval owner, factual reviewer, date, and unresolved items accepted through the current process. Do not treat silence or download as approval.
Save the approved proof with its source package and ordering worksheet. A future reorder should start from this record, then recheck current product and commercial facts.
